At Bolec Electronics, some of our best product developments do not start as catalogue items. They begin with a real-world problem, a customer requirement, and a practical need in the field.
The BEM502IRN Dual Pressure model is a good example of that process. Originally developed in response to a request from an installer in Bundaberg, Queensland, this modified version of the proven BEM502IRN platform was designed for an irrigation application requiring dual pump pressure monitoring.
Built on a Proven Platform
Rather than designing an entirely new system from the ground up, the Bolec team adapted the existing BEM502IRN engine protection platform to suit the new application. This approach retained the reliability of a proven design while adding the extra monitoring functions needed for the job.
The result is a rugged, IP56-rated engine protection panel suited for irrigation pumps and stationary diesel engines operating in demanding field environments.
Why Dual Pressure Monitoring Was Needed
In some diesel pump applications, monitoring a single pressure point is not enough. Operators need separate protection for two pump pressure conditions, along with core engine fault monitoring, to reduce the risk of pump damage, engine failure, and costly downtime.
The modified BEM502IRN Dual Pressure system was developed to address this with a practical, dependable configuration.
Key Protection Features
Based on proven BEM502IRN watchdog logic, the Dual Pressure model continuously monitors critical engine and pump conditions — automatically shutting down the engine if a dangerous fault is detected.
By detecting faults early, the system helps protect against unplanned downtime and expensive equipment damage.
Murphy Gauge Configuration

This version is fitted with a dedicated Murphy gauge configuration to provide reliable field monitoring under harsh operating conditions.
Intelligent Watchdog Logic for Fast Diagnostics
In addition to shutdown protection, the system includes intelligent watchdog safety logic that stores the first shutdown fault. This makes fault finding faster and more efficient in the field, helping technicians identify the cause of a trip without unnecessary guesswork.
Features such as the programmable start delay, tachometer input, and audible alarm further improve usability and make the panel suitable for demanding real-world applications.
From Modified Model to Standard Range
One of the strengths of Bolec Electronics is the ability to adapt existing platforms to suit specialised applications. In many cases, custom modifications remain one-off solutions — but when a modified configuration demonstrates broader market relevance, it may be added to the regular product line.
That is exactly what happened with the BEM502IRN Dual Pressure. What started as a custom request became a practical product with wider appeal, and is now part of the expanding Bolec offering.
Flexible Engineering Beyond Catalogue Products
The BEM502IRN Dual Pressure model reflects Bolec’s broader approach: practical engineering based on field demand. Beyond standard catalogue items, Bolec can assist with:
This flexibility allows customers to access solutions closer to their real application needs — without the cost and delay of a completely new design.
